EU Data Protection
The European Data Protection Supervisor (the “EDPS”) has published his 2014 annual report. As well as its more routine functions such as supervision and enforcement of personal data processing of European institutions and agencies, the EDPS has been working with the European Parliament and the European Council on the new Data Protection Regulation. The introduction of this regulation will bring in important changes which companies processing personal data will need to be aware of to ensure their procedures comply with the new regime. The EDPS has recently published an opinion on the proposed draft EU General Data Protection Regulation. EDPS priorities for 2015 are set out in its publication EDPS Strategy 2015-2019.
